1) A Bittersweet Potion
Rating:
R for violence
Type:
Adventure, Angst, Pre-Slash
Complete. The first of a series. Sequel: Procul
His.
Summary:
During Harry's 5th Year at
Hogworts, he receives a highly sought after Gift- but will it be more
trouble than its worth? Snape (to his horror) learns he trusts Harry.
Draco attracts trouble. And as usual, Dumbledore knows more than he lets
on. And how is absinthe involved?
2)
Procul His
Rating:
R for violence
Type:
Adventure, Angst
Complete. Sequel to A Bittersweet Potion.
Summary:
Towards the end of Harry Potter's
5th Year at Hogwarts. The Lestranges have escaped from Azkaban and Harry
needs to learn to block against dark mind control curses.
3)
Purification
Rating:
NC-17 (violence, sexual
situations, questionable consent, rape/non-consent)
Type:
Adventure, Angst
Complete
Summary:
Picks
up at the very end of Harry Potter's 5th Year. Harry continues to learn
about blocking dark mind control curses, Snape has his own problems, Remus
is a nuisance, Dumbledore is of no help whatsoever and Voldemort seems
to be the most normal of all.
4)
The River
Rating:
Graphic for Content:
Murder or Attempt, Sex, Violence
WiP
Summary:
Snape
meets the Dursleys! And Sirius! And a Dementor! And there's plenty of
absinthe to go around!
Notes
on the Series:
Two first stories - Yes, Harry as Snape's cat might sound like a fluffy
cliché, but no, this is not a cliché series at all. This
is a very original story about affection, about a slowly progressing relationship.
And it's not fluffy either -- it's a bittersweet series, a blending of
angst and humour. The dialogues are rich. The writing is poetic, evocative,
painting eerie atmospheres. One of the most beautiful pieces in the HP
fandom.
"Purification" - a very dark story. Not for the faint of heart.
I haven't finished it yet :-). But the authors say "The River"
is much lighter and funnier.

PWP. Chan. Non-con.
Complete
Summary:
Snape sees a challenge before
him - one he'll enjoy.
Notes:
Why am I rec'ing this story if I don't like PWPs, chan or non-con? Maybe
it's because Amanuensis is the Devil. And because this story is... hot.
But don't forget: it's chan and non-con, and Snape is a complete bastard.

The
Measure of Our Torment
Rating:
R
Type:
Angst, Romance
Complete
Summary:
Ten years ago, Severus Snape's
world fell apart. Can a returning Harry Potter put it back together again?
Notes:
An interesting political portrait of the Wizarding World's future and
an enthralling romance. It's a different Snape from the one I'm used to,
but his characterisation is consistent and completely justifiable under
the circumstances.

Notes:
A wonderful characterisation of Adult!Harry. How refreshing to read the
mature and interesting exchanges between Snape and Harry! Also: I like
endings where not everything is solved. There's a scene that doesn't work
for me (the trial), but the rest of the story more than compensates for
it.

NC-17
Type:
Romance, a bit of Humour, a bit of Angst
Complete
Summary:
Snape lives as Harry Potter's
prisoner (and more or less servant). An unexpected attack changes things.
Or have things already been changing?
Notes:
I have to rec this piece because Snape narrative voice is delicious, absolutely
amazing. It's one of the most original and delightful pieces I've read
in this fandom. It's also very well-written and everybody loved it, but
if you want me to be frank, I didn't like the ending, perhaps because
I can't buy this characterisation of Harry as so emotionally naïve.

The
Courtship of Harry Potter
Rating:
NC-17
Type:
Romance, First Time.
Complete
Summary:
Another teacher's interest in Harry Potter forces a reluctant Snape to
compete for the young man affections. Based on the following challenge:
"Suppose it were a usual thing in Wizarding culture that a young man take
an older man as a lover/mentor. Mix in a flashy and ill-intentioned rival,
and Snape's machinations to ensure that he is Harry's choice. Extra bunny
- a clear period and ritual to the courtship, with the rival managing
smoothly while Snape's gestures all appear to fall flat. Of course, our
Harry is a better judge of character than that..."
Notes:
A funny comedy of errors,
a good romance and an interesting take on the Athenian traditions of pederasty.

Primer
to the Dark Arts (Schnoogle)
Pairings:
Harry/Ron, Harry/Snape
Rating:
R
Type:
Romance, Drama
Complete. There's a sequel Snape
Manor, but it's unfinished.
Summary:
Harry learns he is to be given private (and secret) tutoring in the Dark
Arts to protect himself next time he meets Voldemort. His teacher? Professor
Snape. Features ghost cats and cursed harps, spells that are supposed
to go wrong and don't, a friendly sociopathic Death Eater... and Snape's
very naughty, naughty library.
Notes:
Sometimes I can't recognise this Snape - perhaps he's too aristocratic
for me. But Icarus's writing is seductive, and she adds wonderful magical
details, and her sex scenes are so perfect.
|
Cursed
Artefacts for Sale
(Schnoogle)
Rating:
PG-13
Type:

Summary:
Severus drags Harry to a Wizarding auction. "Collecting Cursed Artefacts
is a registered form of madness in the Compendium of Wizarding Mental Disorders
and Other Things That Make You Twitch," Severus said, "like most compulsions
to collect. But it's very a popular one and I plan to beat everyone else
to it."
Notes:
A very well-written story, full
of witty humour and magic. The details, oh my God, the details! Icarus is
a genius. |

Rating: PG-13?
Type: Drama, Angst
Complete
Summary: Harry

fits here best than in the other boxes. A lyrical story, so beautiful that
it hurts. |

The
Consanguinity arch
Rating: PG-13/R
Type: Drama, Angst
Complete
Notes: The
first story is creepy, and perfect. The third is very well-crafted: the
story is told from the PoV of original characters, and the reader solves
the puzzle piece by piece. It's a poignant, intense story. Not everything
is told, though. Jay Tryfanstone leaves some space for the readers' imagination.

I'm rec'ing this long story

plot treated in a very original way, with realistic tones. Another masterpiece

Summary:
Harry spends a summer away from the Wizarding world, working for
Severus Snape, neither of them aware of the others heritage. Their
collision with fate will change both of them forever. Written for the
From Dusk Till Dawn Severus Snape/Harry Potter Fuh-Q-Fest Wave X
Notes: Romance of the best kind. I usually
don't read AUs, but this story hooked me by the wonderfully detailled
depiction of the maritime life. Snape and Harry are not exactly like they
are in the books, but their characterisation in consistent, and the writing
is enthralling.

Pairings:
Harry/Snape, Snape/Sirius/Remus/James
Rating: NC-17
Type: Drama,
Angst, Darkfic, Violence
Complete
Summary: Severus
Snape suffered more at the hands of James, Sirius and Remus than straightforward
bullying at school. After all, Snape doesn't really matter, does he? It's
time to reset the scales of justice. Harry will be gradually bent to suit
Severus' tastes.
Notes: Warning: this story is darker than all the
other stories I've rec'ed. Usually I don't like violence in my romances,
but this one, besides being hot as hell, has an ending that... oh well,
with this ending I can make an exception. But I've warned you: this is
almost non-con.

Notes
on the whole series:
One of the most heart-wrenching, remarkable and popular Severus/Harry
series ever written. A classic. I cannot be objective about that series.
The academic in me would remark that it's difficult to follow its labyrinthic
meanders, that there's an overdose of angst in some passages, etc., etc..
But why would I want to be academic, when there are so many moments of
pure magic? The watch subplot (in the Civil War novella, in Mariti
and, later, in The Spy) is one of the most beautiful things I've
ever read in my life. CW! Snape might not be the most canonical Snape,
but I've fallen in love with him, and the other characters, and the whole
series. It's seductive, addictive, enthralling.

One of the best-written

very graphic sex scenes.

Notes:
A short story told from Harry's point of view. I confess I wasn't hooked

Harry's tiny, limited world, bringing focus to the details.

A masterpiece. Tradescant is a master of the short story. Every word is

main theme here is communication, or the lack of it. Oh, and what a fantabulous
